Protesters Clash with Police

On Saturday morning, a large number of students and activists from various organizations gathered at Gandhi Maidan in Siwan to protest the NEET paper leak. Protesters attempted to breach police barricades and began pelting stones at the police force in the Gandhi Maidan and JP Chowk areas.

During the violent confrontation, Siwan Superintendent of Police (SP) Puran Kumar Jha sustained injuries to his leg. Several other police personnel and journalists on duty were also injured in the melee.

As the situation deteriorated, police initially attempted to reason with the protesters. When the crowd became uncontrollable, police resorted to lathi-charge and fired tear gas shells. Amidst the ensuing chaos, a video surfaced on social media showing police constable Abhishek Patel firing an AK-47 rifle. The video's virality raised questions about police actions and politicized the issue.

Police Headquarters Orders Suspension and Inquiry
