Narsinghgarh | August 27, 2026 - A divine and proper ceremony of Shravani Upakarma, Hemadri Sankalp, and Prayaschitta Havan was concluded today at Shri Dudhiya Diwan Gurukulam, located on Sanwasi Road in Narsinghgarh. A large number of Brahmin boys studying at the Gurukulam, along with members of the local Brahmin community, participated in this significant event.

The ritual, which commenced at 7 AM, was conducted under the guidance of the Gurukulam's superintendent, Vedacharya Dr. Jagdish Shastri. Assisted by Acharya Samarth Shastri, Sagar Upadhyay, and Chandramohan Shastri, they facilitated the 'Dashavidha Snan' (ten-fold purification bath) for all present Brahmin boys and community members, adhering to scriptural methods.

Spiritual Significance of Shravani Upakarma Emphasized

Following the purification bath, the sacred thread (Yajopavit) changing ceremony was performed with Vedic chants and rituals, culminating in the Prayaschitta Havan. Vedacharya Dr. Jagdish Shastri addressed the attendees, illuminating the profound spiritual and religious importance of Shravani Upakarma. He explained that this festival is more than just the traditional ritual of changing the sacred thread; it is a holy occasion for self-purification, renewal of sacraments, self-study, and recommitting to a pure Vedic way of life.

“This day inspires us to refine our thoughts and actions, and to make a firm commitment towards preserving Dharma, sacraments, and Vedic traditions,” Dr. Shastri stated.
