Shah Rukh Khan’s King Becomes India’s Costliest Action Film at ₹350 Crores — Features Six Mega Action Sequences

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is all set to redefine Indian action cinema with his upcoming film King, which has officially become India’s most expensive action film with a staggering budget of ₹350 crores.

According to industry sources, King was initially conceived as an action thriller directed by Sujoy Ghosh, with SRK playing an extended cameo and a budget of around ₹150 crores. However, after Siddharth Anand came on board, the project underwent a dramatic transformation. The Pathaan and Fighter director re-envisioned the film as a high-octane global action spectacle, leading to the massive budget escalation.

“King started as an action thriller with an extended cameo from SRK, with Sujoy Ghosh as the director. The initial budget was ₹150 crores only, but when Siddharth Anand joined, he and SRK decided to take it to another level. SRK gave Sid complete freedom to design action sequences on a never-before scale,” revealed a source.

Reportedly, King will feature six extraordinary action sequences, each crafted to deliver a world-class experience. “Three of them are being filmed at real international locations, while the remaining three will be shot on elaborate sets,” the insider added.

SRK’s introductory sequence itself is said to be one of the film’s biggest highlights, with an enormous budget allocated to make it visually unforgettable.

Produced by Gauri Khan (Red Chillies Entertainment) and Mamta Anand, King is being described as a “global film made in India”, aiming to achieve Hollywood-level action at one-fifth the cost.

The film marks Siddharth Anand and Shah Rukh Khan’s first full-fledged collaboration after their successful creative synergy on Pathaan. King is slated for a 2026 release, and is already being touted as SRK’s most ambitious project yet — one that blends scale, emotion, and style like never before.
