Devotion and Valor on Display in Guna Ramlila

The tenth day of the Ramlila, organized by the Public Shri Ramlila and Dussehra Festival Committee at Guna's Old Grain Mandi, featured a vibrant enactment of episodes filled with devotion and valor. Artists profoundly moved the devotees with their lifelike presentation of Lord Rama imparting the knowledge of Navdha Bhakti to Shabri, his friendship with Sugriva, and the subsequent slaying of Vali.

The Journey Begins: Jataayu's Sacrifice

The Ramlila commenced with a scene depicting Lord Rama and Lakshmana searching for Sita. Along their path, they encountered the wounded bird-king Jataayu. In the Lord's lap, Jataayu breathed his last after providing information about the direction Ravana had taken Sita. The artists' emotional performance in this episode deeply moved the audience.

Shabri's Devotion and Rama-Sugriva Friendship

Following this, the stage depicted the hermitage of Sage Matanga, where the devotee Shabri lovingly offered berries to Lord Rama, imbued with her devotion. Lord Rama, pleased, explained the path of Navdha Bhakti to Shabri, immersing the assembled gathering in a sea of devotion. As per Shabri's guidance, Rama reached Mount Rishyamuka, where he had his first meeting with Hanuman. It was on this mountain that the strong friendship between Lord Rama and Sugriva, the Vanara king of Kishkindha, was forged. Sugriva recounted his plight and the suffering inflicted by Vali to Lord Rama. Hearing Sugriva's pain, Rama vowed to free him from Vali's terror, restore his kingdom, and place him on the throne of Kishkindha. This episode of friendship conveyed a message of devotion and unwavering faith to the audience.

Bali's Slaying and Sugriva's Coronation

In the final act of the play, Rama dramatically slew the immensely powerful Vali. The enactment of this episode filled the audience with enthusiasm. After Vali's demise, Lord Rama formally crowned Sugriva, restoring peace to the Vanara kingdom. Throughout this performance, the artists' acting, dialogues, and musical presentation directly connected the audience to those ancient episodes.

The committee officials expressed their gratitude to all the artists, collaborators, and audience members for making this event a grand success. This tenth day of the Ramlila became a memorable moment in Guna's cultural landscape.
