Reports indicate that even the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office complex is waterlogged to a depth of about four feet, highlighting the severity of the situation.

River Levels Rise, Villages on High Alert

Continuous rainfall and rapid water flow from catchment areas have caused river and stream water levels to rise dangerously in the Satna, Rampur Baghelan, Kothar, Raghuraj Nagar, and Nagod tehsils. The Semarawal river and other smaller tributaries are in spate, posing a flood risk to villages situated along their banks. The administration has intensified monitoring in these vulnerable villages and issued strict warnings to residents to stay away from rivers and streams.

Villages in the Rampur Baghelan and Kothar regions have been particularly advised to remain on high alert. Residents are being urged to evacuate to safe places immediately if necessary. Previous reports of rainwater entering the Nagod police station premises underscore the area's drainage issues.

In anticipation of severe flooding and waterlogging, an order has been issued to close all schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centers in Satna district on September 2 and 3. This decision aims to ensure the safety of students and staff. The administration has mobilized relevant officials to maintain a close watch on sensitive areas, and disaster management teams are on full alert to handle any emergency.

The holy city of Chitrakoot, adjacent to Satna, is also experiencing the effects of the continuous rainfall. The Mandakini river has seen a rapid rise in its water level, leading to inundation in the Ramghat area. Several shops and hotels located along the riverbanks have been affected. Local authorities have advised residents near the river to stay vigilant and take measures to prevent any untoward incidents.

According to alerts issued by the Meteorological Department, the rainfall is likely to persist in Satna and surrounding areas for the next few days, increasing the administration's concerns. Continuous rain could further elevate river and stream levels due to soil saturation and increased water inflow from catchment areas. In these challenging circumstances, the administration has once again appealed to the public to stay away from waterlogged routes, overflowing rivers and streams, and dangerous bridges.
