Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has finally launched his long-awaited film Spirit, starring Prabhas, putting an end to weeks of speculation over casting changes and production delays. The film officially kicked off with a traditional mahurat ceremony in Hyderabad on Sunday (November 23), attended by Megastar Chiranjeevi, who graced the event as the chief guest. Producer Bhushan Kumar and actor Triptii Dimri were also present.
Ranbir Kapoor to Join Prabhas in Spirit? Buzz Intensifies
Even as the project moved onto the floors, a new rumour has stolen the spotlight: the possibility of Ranbir Kapoor making a special appearance in the film.
A report by Deccan Chronicle suggests that Ranbir — coming off the blockbuster success of Animal (2023) — may feature in a pivotal moment in the storyline. If true, this would mark the first-ever on-screen collaboration between Prabhas and Ranbir.
A source quoted in the report said,
“Ranbir will come into the picture at a crucial juncture. It will be a turning point in the plot and a historic moment in Indian cinema since he has never shared screen space with Prabhas.”
Vanga has not commented on the rumour, but it has already caused a frenzy among fans of both stars.
Inside the Mahurat Ceremony
Chiranjeevi led the traditional proceedings, performing the ceremonial clap to mark the start of filming. Sandeep Reddy Vanga later expressed his gratitude, writing:
“Heartfelt thank you to our MEGASTAR CHIRANJEEVI sir for blessing the event with his presence. Sir… your gesture is unforgettable — we all love you.”
The film’s team released photos from the ceremony, giving fans a first look at Spirit’s early production moments. Triptii Dimri — who joined the project after Deepika Padukone’s exit — was in attendance.
Notably, Prabhas did not attend the mahurat; neither did cast members Prakash Raj or Vivek Oberoi. Still, Vanga made sure Prabhas’ presence was felt, posting a photo of the actor holding the clapboard and writing:
“Dear fans… I thought PRABHAS anna’s hands were enough to EXCITE YOU ALL… So on this muhurath day, I’m posting this for you — with gratitude and love. SPIRIT.”
A Big Year Ahead for Spirit
With filming now underway and rumours of a Ranbir Kapoor cameo adding fresh momentum, Spirit has once again surged to the top of the most-awaited Indian films list. As Sandeep Reddy Vanga returns after two massive hits — Kabir Singh and Animal — expectations for Spirit are sky-high.
