Samsung lays out next-gen TV roadmap at CES 2026, bets big on AI and ultra-premium displays

What happened: Samsung Electronics unveiled its vision for the next era of television during a Visual Display Deep Dive session at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.

Why it matters now: The global TV market is entering a new premium cycle, driven by AI-powered experiences, larger screens, and connected homes.

What changes for people: TVs are set to become interactive, personalised, and smarter, moving beyond passive viewing.

Who is affected: Consumers, smart home users, content creators, and the broader consumer electronics industry.

At CES 2026, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. outlined an ambitious roadmap for the future of television, positioning AI-driven intelligence, ultra-large screens, and premium display technologies at the centre of the next phase of home entertainment. The company says 2026 will be a turning point in how people interact with TVs inside connected homes.

Inside Samsung’s CES 2026 Deep Dive

The Visual Display Deep Dive session, held at The Wynn Las Vegas, was led by SW Yong, President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. The presentation highlighted how Samsung is building on over two decades of market leadership to redefine the TV’s role beyond entertainment.

Samsung executives described a market shift shaped by premium demand, bigger displays, and intelligent user experiences, with televisions becoming a central digital hub in everyday life.

2026: A pivotal year for Samsung TVs

Samsung outlined 2026 as a defining year for its visual display business, with multiple technologies shaping its product strategy:

Micro RGB and OLED driving the premium TV segment

Mini LED expanding access to high-end picture quality

Ultra-large displays enhancing immersive viewing for homes and commercial spaces

The company said its full 2026 line-up will bring advanced screen technology to a wider consumer base while reinforcing leadership in performance and innovation.

Samsung’s vision: From viewing to interaction

Speaking at the session, SW Yong said television viewing is undergoing a fundamental transformation.

According to Yong, the experience is shifting from passive watching to direct interaction, with TVs responding to users in real time. Samsung plans to build on its hardware legacy while expanding software-driven experiences that adapt to individual preferences.

Vision AI Companion takes centre stage

At the core of Samsung’s strategy is Vision AI Companion (VAC), a new intelligent platform set to be integrated across nearly the entire Samsung TV line-up in 2026.

Samsung says VAC will:

Track viewing habits

Anticipate user needs

Surface contextual information on-screen

Enable a conversational and personalised TV experience

VAC is designed to transform the TV from a passive display into an active participant in everyday life.
