'Samrasta Yatra' Held on 650th Birth Anniversary of Sant Ravidas

The 'Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan Evam Yatra' was organized in the city on Saturday, August 22, 2026, to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji. The procession, which concluded at the Itka Shri Guru Ravidas Ji temple complex in Ward No. 07, conveyed messages of equality, devotion, service, and social justice.

The yatra commenced at 10 AM from the PWD Rest House, traversing various routes to spread the teachings of Sant Ravidas Ji and the importance of social harmony among the public. The event was inaugurated by Municipal President Mrs. Krishna Panjwani through garlanding, lamp lighting, and tilak-vandan of a portrait of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji.

During the program, Municipal President Mrs. Krishna Panjwani stated that the life philosophy of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji inspires society with equality, brotherhood, devotion, service, and humanity. She emphasized that Sant Ravidas Ji's ideals are still highly relevant today and need to be incorporated into daily life, not just confined to anniversary celebrations.

The 'Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan' aimed to strengthen the spirit of mutual love, harmony, equality, and social justice within society. Participants in the yatra resolved to internalize the ideals of Sant Ravidas Ji and follow the path he laid out.

Madhya Pradesh Govt Increases DA for Employees and Pensioners

In related news, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees and pensioners by 3%, raising the rate to 58%. This increase will be effective from April 2026, with its implementation visible in the May 2026 salaries.

Arrears from July 2025 to March 2026 will be paid in six equal installments starting from May 2026. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh pensioners will receive a 58% dearness relief for the period of January to February 2026.

Nationwide 'Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan' to Mark Sant Ravidas's Anniversary

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is also launching a nationwide 'Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan' from July 29, 2026, to February 20, 2027, to commemorate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas. As part of this campaign, pujas will be performed with sacred soil brought from Sant Ravidas's birthplace in Varanasi in 131 urns.

A procession is scheduled for July 29, 2026, and a 'Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasta Yatra' will be organized from Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Punjab to Seer Goverdhanpur in Varanasi from October 5 to November 5.
