Food Safety Teams Conduct Raids in Bhind and Gormi

In a significant move, the Food Safety Department in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind city and Gormi tehsil conducted raids, seizing samples of adulterated food items for testing. The action was carried out under the orders of the Controller, Food and Drug Administration, Madhya Pradesh, and the direction of Collector Kirodilal Meena.

During the operation, materials used in the production of adulterated mawa were also recovered, including glucose powder and refined palm oil. Food Safety Officer Mrs. Kiran Senger collected four samples of Govardhan brand ghee from the Blinkit Commerce Pvt. Ltd. store in Bhind city and seized 8.4 liters of ghee, with an estimated value of ₹7518. This action is part of the government's effort to provide pure ghee to consumers.

Adulteration in Mawa Production Uncovered in Gormi Tehsil

In Gormi tehsil, Food Safety Officer Kumari Rekha Soni collected a sample of milk cream from Shyamveer Baghel, the proprietor of Bajrang Dairy in village Lolai. This sample was taken to check the purity of the cream extracted from milk, ensuring no adulteration.

Similarly, a sample of mawa was collected for testing from Jitendra Dairy in village Krupe ka Pura. The quality of these samples will be determined once their reports are received. In village Rawatpura within the same tehsil, samples of milk, mawa, and ingredients used in mawa production such as refined palm oil and glucose powder were taken from Pawan Dairy, owned by Kamal Kishore Prajapati.

Large-Scale Adulteration Operation Thwarted

The operation at Pawan Dairy was particularly crucial as it directly intercepted components used in the adulteration process. It was found that adulterated mawa was being prepared by mixing refined oil and glucose powder into milk at Pawan Dairy. This is a serious issue, as refined palm oil and glucose powder are used to increase mawa quantity and enhance its appearance, which can be harmful to health.

Such adulteration not only deceives consumers but also adversely affects their health. On-site, 40 kilograms of mawa, 55 kilograms of refined palm oil, and 08 kilograms of glucose powder were seized, indicating the large scale of this adulteration business. Additionally, 15 liters of milk contaminated with refined oil were destroyed to ensure it was not used.

Dairy Operations Halted Amidst Ongoing Crackdown

The dairy's operations were immediately halted. The Food Safety Department's actions demonstrate their commitment to public health and send a clear message that the crackdown on adulterators will continue.
