SP Holds 'Save Democracy Week' Protest in Fatehpur
Fatehpur | October 4, 2026 | The Samajwadi Party (SP) organized a widespread protest in Fatehpur on Sunday as part of their 'Save Democracy Week' campaign. Hundreds of party workers participated in a march that began from the party office.
The procession, chanting slogans of 'Save Votes, Save the Nation', proceeded through Patel Nagar to the Collectorate Court premises. The demonstration's focal point was Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Park, where party activists strongly voiced their opposition to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Demands for Resignation and Protection of Franchise
Activists questioned the security of voting rights and democratic processes, demanding the immediate resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner. During the protest, participants also burned an effigy of Gyanesh Kumar, creating a lively atmosphere with prolonged slogan-shouting at the Collectorate premises.
Key SP Leaders Participate, Campaign to Continue
Several prominent Samajwadi Party leaders were present, including SP District President Surendra Singh Yadav, Sadar MLA Chandra Prakash Lodhi, and Husainganj MLA Usha Maurya. Party leader Mahendra Bahadur Singh also participated in the event.
Party officials stated that their campaign to protect voters' rights and the democratic system will continue unabated. They asserted their party's commitment to preserving democratic values and vowed to continue raising their voice through similar protest programs in the future.
The administration maintained a close watch on security arrangements during the demonstration. The presence of hundreds of activists has further intensified the political fervor in the district.
