Protest Over FIR Against Samajwadi Party Members

Farrukhabad, October 9, 2026 – Samajwadi Party workers in Farrukhabad have voiced strong discontent over a First Information Report (FIR) registered following the burning of an effigy of the Chief Election Commissioner outside the party's district office. The workers emphasized that the decision to burn the effigy was a collective one, involving several senior party leaders.

The primary objection raised during a meeting at the party's district office was that the FIR specifically named only youth leaders. The gathered workers argued that if any action is to be taken, it should apply equally to all involved. They expressed concern that despite the participation of senior leaders in the demonstration, the police administration appears to be solely targeting the younger members.

Concerns Regarding FIR Inclusion

Party members questioned why only a few youth leaders were named in the FIR when the decision was made collectively. They believe this indicates a lack of impartiality in the police's investigation. This issue has sparked internal debate within the party, leading to a sense of resentment among the workers.

Delegation to Meet Superintendent of Police

It was unanimously decided during the meeting that a delegation from the Samajwadi Party would meet with Superintendent of Police Arti Singh. The delegation intends to register their objection to the names included in the FIR and demand impartial action in the matter. Before this meeting, party workers reiterated that any action taken must be completely fair and unbiased.

A large number of office bearers were present at the event, including former MLA Urmila Rajput, former minister Sarvesh Ambedkar, and former national secretary Vivek Yadav. Alongside the observance of Kanshiram's death anniversary, the primary focus of the meeting was this legal dispute. All eyes are now on the upcoming meeting with the Superintendent of Police, where the party plans to firmly present its position.
