Gang Exploiting Minors for Heists Busted in Sagar

Bhopal | August 29, 2026 The Madhya Pradesh Police have made a sensational revelation in Sagar district. The Beena police station has exposed a gang that blackmailed minors and forced them to commit thefts, resulting in the loss of lakhs of rupees. Police have arrested two suspects in this case and recovered assets worth approximately ₹54.37 lakh based on their confession.

The seized assets include gold jewelry, a car, motorcycles, mobile phones, and household items. This operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Sagar, Shri Anurag Sujania, and led by Additional Superintendent of Police Beena, Shri Jaiveer Singh Bhadauria. The swift and effective action by the police not only solved the theft but also aimed to curb the morale of gangs engaging in such crimes.

Millions Stolen from Ancestral Home

The incident came to light when a complainant lodged a report at the Beena police station. The complainant stated that their family was residing in a new house, while their old ancestral home remained vacant. They had stored cash, gold jewelry, and other valuables securely in this ancestral property.

Upon inspecting the old house on June 17, they discovered that the cash and valuables were missing. Immediately after the report was filed, the police registered a theft case and initiated an investigation. Showing promptness, the police formed a special investigation team to probe the incident. The team meticulously examined the crime scene to determine the method of entry and the routes used. Detailed inquiries were made with locals, and an informant network was activated to identify and verify potential suspects.

Crucial to the investigation was the analysis of technical evidence, including CCTV footage from the vicinity and mobile call data. Through continuous and in-depth examination of various aspects, the police finally succeeded in unraveling the complexities of the case.

Blackmail and Threats Orchestrated the Crime

During the investigation, police gathered significant information from the crime scene inspection, witness testimonies, and analysis of technical evidence. It emerged that the accused had targeted a minor member of the complainant's family. The minor was being blackmailed and threatened with death, pressuring them to carry out the theft. Under this duress, the minor committed the crime.

It was discovered that the accused, as part of the gang, exploited a private piece of information or incident concerning the minor, subjecting them to constant mental torture. This blackmail was so severe that the minor feared repercussions—harm to their family or reputational damage—if they did not comply with the perpetrators' demands. This psychological pressure left the minor with no option but to steal.

Upon confirming these details, the police immediately planned their action.

Two Accused Arrested, Assets Seized

Based on the evidence and interrogation, the police apprehended the main accused. During questioning, the accused admitted to stealing approximately ₹13 lakh in cash and about 40 tolas of gold jewelry from the complainant's family. The accused further revealed that they had used the stolen cash to purchase various items and vehicles, while the gold jewelry was handed over to their maternal uncle.

Taking immediate action, the police also arrested the accused's maternal uncle. From the uncle's possession, police recovered gold jewelry worth approximately ₹38 lakh, including a gold necklace, chain, bracelet, rings, pendant, coins, bangles, and a mangalsutra. This recovery proved instrumental in foiling attempts by the accused to conceal or misuse the illegally acquired assets.

To recover the gold jewelry, police utilized the assistance of a confidential informant who provided details about the uncle's whereabouts. The total value of the seized assets is reported to be around ₹54.37 lakh, significantly exceeding the stolen amount. This suggests the gang was not solely focused on theft but also on expanding their wealth using proceeds from criminal activities.

Vehicles and Gadgets Also Recovered

On the main accused's confession, police also recovered several expensive items purchased with the stolen money. These include a Hyundai car, a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga car, a Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle, an iPhone and other mobile phones, an air conditioner (AC), an LED TV, a sound system, a bed, an iron gate, and other household goods.

Police are also investigating whether any remaining stolen funds or assets are yet to be recovered. The recovery of vehicles and other electronic items clearly indicates the accused led a luxurious lifestyle, likely funded by the stolen property.

Police Assert Control Over Criminal Activities

The Madhya Pradesh Police consistently claims to take effective measures for crime prevention and swift resolution. Police stated that through technical evidence, prompt investigation, and coordinated efforts, such cases are being rapidly solved, accused are arrested, and recovery of assets acquired through crime is ensured. This incident is considered a significant achievement in this regard.

This action by Sagar Police is not only a breakthrough in a major theft case but also demonstrates the police's capability to apprehend criminals using modern technology and keen observation. Involving minors in criminal activities, especially through blackmail, is a heinous crime. In this case, the police not only rescued the victimized minor but also brought to justice the criminals who were exploiting innocent children for their nefarious deeds.

The recovery of assets by the police ensures that criminals face consequences for their actions and victims receive justice. Police further stated that the investigation is ongoing to expose other members of the gang and prevent any further criminal activities. The recovered assets are valued at approximately ₹54.37 lakh.
