Safe Delivery Services Launched Across 16 Centers in Farrukhabad to Reduce Maternal Mortality

The Health Department in Farrukhabad district has taken a significant step to control maternal mortality and promote institutional deliveries. Under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Upadhyay, 41 healthcare workers in the district received special delivery training. Subsequently, safe delivery services have commenced at 16 health centers across the district, aiming to strengthen maternal health and provide relief to pregnant women.

The intensive training program was conducted in five separate batches from August 13 to September 28, 2026. A total of 32 ANMs (Auxiliary Nurse Midwives) and 9 Staff Nurses participated in this comprehensive training. These skilled healthcare professionals have now been deployed to various health centers within the district to play a crucial role.

This initiative ensures that pregnant women can access quality and safe delivery facilities relatively close to their homes, marking a significant stride in expanding access to government healthcare services. The expansion of delivery services now includes new health facilities at 16 centers, with a special focus on both rural and urban areas.

Expansion of Delivery Services: New Facilities at 16 Centers

Safe delivery facilities are now operational at Primary Health Centers in development blocks such as Kamalgaj, Rajepur, Shamshabad, Mohammadabad, Nawabganj, and Kaimganj. Additionally, delivery services have become active at the Urban Primary Health Center in Navadiya, catering to the health needs of the urban population.

Future plans by the Health Department include the soon-to-be-launched delivery services at the Urban Health Center located at ITI, further strengthening the urban health infrastructure. This strategic expansion aims to bring essential maternal healthcare services closer to communities.

Goal to Strengthen Safe Deliveries and Health Services: Controlling Maternal Mortality

“The availability of trained healthcare workers will not only reduce reliance on untrained dais but also lessen the burden on private nursing homes. This step is crucial as it ensures timely management of any complications during delivery and facilitates necessary referrals.”

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Upadhyay highlighted the importance of this initiative, emphasizing that it ensures timely management of delivery complications and necessary referrals. The primary and paramount objective of the Health Department is to provide accessible, affordable, and high-quality health services to every pregnant woman.

The local administration firmly believes that this ambitious initiative will significantly improve the efficiency and service delivery of government health centers, fostering deeper public trust in these institutions. This move is poised to be instrumental in advancing Farrukhabad towards the goal of safe motherhood.
