Saali Mohabbat: Radhika Apte Shines in Tisca Chopra’s Crime Drama

Tisca Chopra’s Saali Mohabbat, streaming on ZEE5, expands her twist-filled short Chutney into a feature-length story of lust, betrayal, and retribution. Radhika Apte plays Smita, a demure yet resilient housewife whose husband’s affair triggers a dark chain of events in the town of Fursatgarh.

When corpses surface and suspicion falls on Smita, the film follows her calculated responses while exploring themes of morality and justice. Anurag Kashyap, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Divyenndu add depth to the narrative, with Divyenndu standing out as a shrewd policeman.

Though the film is lean and occasionally gripping, it lacks full suspense and sharper characterisation, leaving some threads unresolved, seemingly paving the way for a sequel. Apte’s restrained, simmering performance as a housewife hiding immense inner strength remains the highlight.
