Rs 55 Lakh Fraud Alleged in Balrampur; Case Filed Over 11 Bigha Land Grabbing

Fraud and Land Grabbing Allegations in Balrampur

Jyoti Pandey, a resident of Sirsiya Kukurbhukwa in Balrampur district, has leveled serious accusations against a close relative and his associates. She claims they defrauded her of approximately 55 lakh rupees by luring her into a partnership in a contracting business and subsequently grabbed 11 bigha of land belonging to her ailing husband.

The family's precarious financial situation has forced them to withdraw their children from expensive private schools and enroll them in government primary schools. According to the victim, they previously owned a total of 18 bigha of land. After selling seven bigha for 63 lakh rupees, she had saved the proceeds for the family's secure future and the children's education.

It is alleged that a person named Lakshmikant Mishra and his accomplices exploited the physical and mental weakness of Jyoti's husband, Rahul Pandey, by making him addicted to drugs. Jyoti stated that her husband is undergoing treatment for liver disease in Delhi. Just days after returning from the hospital, he was taken to the sub-registrar's office and coerced into signing over the land.

Discrepancies in Land Sale Documents

Questions have been raised regarding the fraud and the land transfer process. Official documents show a payment of only 11.44 lakh rupees for the land, which is valued at 77.11 lakh rupees. The victim claims that the accused are now demanding the return of even this amount.

Jyoti further alleged that on December 13, 2025, when she protested the encroachment on her land, the accused physically assaulted her. After appealing to local police and administration six times without any action, she was ultimately compelled to seek recourse through the courts.

Court Orders FIR Registration

Following judicial intervention, the police, deeming the case valid after an initial review, have registered a case against a total of six individuals. This includes Ajit Mishra, Lakshmikant Mishra, Vijay Mishra, Dilip Kumar, Ved Prakash, and one unidentified person, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Jyoti Pandey's primary concern is her children's future. They were previously studying at prestigious private institutions like Fatima School but are now forced to attend government primary schools. The family's hopes are currently pinned on a fair investigation by the police and a favorable court verdict, so they can recover their savings and ancestral land.

Investigation Underway

The police are preparing for a thorough investigation into this matter. This will involve scrutinizing crucial documents such as bank accounts, partnership deeds, and sale agreements to uncover the truth behind the incident.
