Rs 14 Lakh Worth of Illicit Liquor Seized in Guna; Administration Tightens Grip on Mafia

Administration on High Alert Following Hooch Incidents

In light of the tragic incidents of poisonous liquor in Sagar district, the administration in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh, has become fully alert. Following strict directives from Guna Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal, and under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Hitika Vasal and Gwalior Divisional Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Sharma, a comprehensive campaign has been launched against the production and sale of illicit liquor.

Joint Raids Yield Significant Seizures

As part of this special campaign, joint teams of the Excise and Police departments have conducted raids in various inaccessible areas of the district. During surprise checks conducted early in the morning in areas like Rajpura, Gocha Amalya, Barsat, and Madhusudanpura, teams seized a large quantity of illicit liquor and the raw material (lahan) used for its production, which were hidden in ravines and bushes.

Officials collected samples on the spot and immediately destroyed the remaining material. This operation also involved the seizure of 60 liters of illicit liquor being transported on a motorcycle, which the accused were likely attempting to deliver elsewhere.

Illicit Liquor and Raw Materials Worth ₹14 Lakh Confiscated

During the joint operation, the department successfully seized a total of 370 liters of country liquor (haath bhatti madira) and 8600 kilograms of jaggery-mahua raw material (lahan). The estimated market value of this confiscated illicit material has been assessed at approximately ₹14 lakh. This action clearly demonstrates the administration's commitment to eradicating the illegal liquor trade.

Four Cases Registered, Investigation Underway

In connection with this significant action, the police and excise department have registered a total of four cases under various sections of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915, including 34(1)ka, kha, 34(2), and 49(a). Currently, the police are engaged in identifying the accused and conducting a thorough investigation of the cases.

The administration has clarified that anyone involved in the production, transportation, or sale of illicit liquor will not be spared.

Illicit Liquor Mafia Thrown into Disarray

The roles of Excise Sub-Inspectors Radhakishan, Mohnish Sharma, Vardhman Jain, Head Constables Ramhet Singh Kushwah, Dinesh Kumar Rathore, Arun Kumar Sharma, Govind Singh Meena, and Woman Constable Jemma Ekka were particularly commendable in this joint operation.

District Excise Officer Guruprasad Kevat stated that this campaign will continue to prevent incidents like the production of poisonous liquor and the deaths caused by it. This major action, carried out with the cooperation of the local police force, has thrown the illicit liquor mafia into disarray, and a warning of strict legal action in the future has been issued.
