A Rs 100 crore defamation suit has been filed against actress Khushi Mukherjee by social media influencer Faizan Ansari, citing her recent remarks about Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav. Mukherjee had stated in an interview that Suryakumar “used to message me a lot,” prompting Ansari to travel from Mumbai to Ghazipur to lodge an FIR at the Ghazipur police station on January 13, 2026.
Allegations and Legal Demands
Ansari claims Mukherjee’s statements were false and defamatory, intended to attract publicity at the expense of Suryakumar Yadav’s reputation. He has called for strict legal action, including a minimum seven-year jail term, and emphasized that protecting the national-level cricketer’s image is his responsibility.
“This is a conspiracy to damage his reputation, and we will not allow this to happen,” Ansari said, highlighting his active social media reach of over two million followers and wide audience engagement.
Actress Clarifies Her Statement
Following the backlash, Mukherjee clarified that there was never a romantic relationship between her and Suryakumar Yadav. She attributed the controversy to misinterpretation and an alleged Instagram hack, stating her past interactions with the cricketer were purely friendly. Mukherjee also extended her best wishes to Team India and the captain for the upcoming World Cup.
How the Controversy Escalated
The dispute originated after Mukherjee commented on dating cricketers at a public event, stating, “I don’t want to date any cricketer. Many cricketers are after me. Suryakumar used to message me a lot. We don’t talk much now. I don’t even want my name linked with him.” The remarks quickly went viral, sparking strong online reactions and prompting legal proceedings.
