Republic Day: 982 Police Personnel Awarded Service Medals; 125 for Gallantry, J&K Police Bags Highest — 45 Medals

The Central Government has announced the 2026 Gallantry and Service Medals on the occasion of Republic Day. This year, a total of 982 personnel from the police, fire services, home guards, civil defence, and correctional services will be honored for exceptional service, bravery, and distinguished contributions.

Among the awards, 125 are Gallantry Medals, recognizing acts of courage in the line of duty.

Jammu & Kashmir Police has received the highest number of medals — 45 in total, reflecting their continued frontline role in national security.

The awards celebrate individuals from across the country who have shown outstanding commitment, valor, and service.
