Record Promotions and Recruitment Drive Bolster Police Morale in Madhya Pradesh

The Cliff News | Bhopal | August 10, 2026 The government has taken a significant step to boost the morale of personnel in the Madhya Pradesh Police Department, offering new hope and recognition. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced a record 27,534 promotions for officers and employees across 58 cadres of the police department at a program held at Ravindra Bhawan in Bhopal on Monday.

During the event, he also highlighted that over 14,704 candidates have been selected in various cadres since 2023, with recruitment processes for an additional 9,751 posts underway. Recruitment for the police band and forensic science laboratory (FSL) is also in its final stages.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized that raising the morale of the police force and its personnel is a top priority for the government. He stressed that police personnel face every challenge to maintain law and order, and their hard work is assured of receiving respect and rewards.

In this historic promotion event, 12,928 constables at the ground level were promoted to head constables, while 5,171 head constables were promoted to the rank of assistant sub-inspector. According to the Chief Minister, opening the path for promotions has greatly benefited the police department.

Formation of New Battalions and Industrial Security Force

During the program, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav made several important announcements. He revealed that a new police battalion will be established in Khandwa in the state. Additionally, three State Industrial Security Forces will be formed in the state, with the first one to be constituted in the initial phase.

This move is aimed at strengthening the security of industrial areas. Furthermore, the Chief Minister announced the formation of special companies for the youth from the Baiga, Bhariya, and Sahariya tribes, which fall under the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) category. This initiative will provide an opportunity for the youth from these communities to join the police force and serve the nation.

Police Personnel React to New Recruitment and Promotions

Police officers and employees expressed deep gratitude for the announcements made by the Chief Minister. DySP Ms. Deepika Shinde, posted in Ujjain district, stated that this decision has brought honor to many colleagues who have served for two decades. Inspector Ms. Reena Chauhan shared that the initiation of the promotion process has benefited three members of her family, instilling loyalty and energy among the employees.

Trainee DySP Mr. Vinay Kumar Dahmerwal from Balaghat highlighted the police's role in eradicating Naxalism in his region, noting that their success has energized the local population. Female Constable (new recruit) Ms. Aastha Sharma expressed pride in fulfilling her childhood dream of wearing the Khaki uniform.

Role and Expectations of the Police

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav described the Khaki uniform as a symbol of security and trust for the 8.5 crore citizens of Madhya Pradesh. He called upon police personnel to work with honesty, sensitivity, discipline, and impartiality, fostering love for the police among the public and instilling fear of the law in criminals.

He praised the Madhya Pradesh Police for carving a distinct identity across the country based on their patriotism, public service, courage, and commitment, describing it as one of the best police forces in the nation. The Chief Minister also commended the police's contribution to ending dacoity in the Chambal region and combating Naxalism.

Director General of Police Mr. Kailash Makwana informed that new rules for recruitment to Sub-Inspector and Subedar posts were prepared in 2025, and Chief Minister Dr. Yadav had approved the recruitment process for 7,500 new posts. This year, approval has been granted for recruitment to 9,662 various posts. He also mentioned the recruitment made for the Hawk Force and Special Auxiliary Squads.

Mr. Makwana further stated that in preparation for Simhasth 2028, the police department has made over 18,000 new appointments in the last two years, who will be available for Simhasth duty after training. During the event, ADG SAF Mr. Chanchal Shekhar read the Chief Minister's congratulatory letter, while Special DG Administration Mr. Adarsh Katiyar conveyed the vote of thanks. A large number of police officers and employees, including Additional Chief Secretary Home Department Mr. Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Special DG CID Mr. Pankaj Srivastava, and IG Admin Mr. Harinarayanachari Mishra, were present.
