Tragedy Strikes on Auspicious Occasion
Farrukhabad District, August 29, 2026 – The joyous occasion of Raksha Bandhan was marred by a devastating accident in Hamirpur village, Farrukhabad district. 55-year-old Sukhdevi lost her life when a raw wall of her house suddenly collapsed, trapping her under the debris.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the village, leaving the family in profound mourning. According to reports, Sukhdevi was cleaning animals under a shed near her house around 11 AM. At that moment, a raw wall of the house crumbled and fell directly onto her.
Rescue Efforts and Fatal Outcome
Hearing her cries, villagers rushed to the scene and, after strenuous effort, managed to clear the debris and pull her out. Other family members were in a different house at the time, and neighbours delivered the tragic news.
Sukhdevi, critically injured, was immediately rushed to the Community Health Center in Mohammaddabad for treatment. However, the doctor on duty, Dr. Sunny Mishra, declared her dead upon arrival. Based on a memo from the hospital, Sub-Inspector Laxman Singh conducted the post-mortem examination formalities and sent the body for autopsy.
Family Devastated, Wedding Plans Uncertain
The deceased's husband, Rooplal Shakya, along with their two sons and five daughters, are plunged into immense sorrow. The tragedy is compounded by the fact that their youngest daughter's wedding is scheduled for November, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the auspicious event.
The police have registered an FIR in connection with the incident and will hand over the body to the family after the post-mortem report is received. A pall of silence has fallen over the village, with residents expressing their condolences for this unbelievable accident.
