Ration Vendors Announce Protests and Strike

In Madhya Pradesh's Guna district, ration vendors operating under the banner of the Fair Price Shopkeepers Welfare Association Committee are gearing up for a significant protest. Their long-pending demands, particularly concerning the delay and low rate of commission payments, have pushed them to take decisive action.

To voice their grievances, ration vendors from across the district will hold a large rally on September 28th. They plan to submit a memorandum to the district administration at the Collectorate office, urging swift resolution of their issues.

Grievances Over Commission Rates and Payments

Sanjay Dubey, the district president, and Rashid Khan, the state general secretary, highlighted that the commission rate for ration distributors in Madhya Pradesh is the lowest nationwide. This has led to dire economic conditions for fair price shopkeepers, especially those in rural areas.

The combination of this low rate and the state government's failure to make timely commission payments has resulted in widespread dissatisfaction and anger among the vendors. They have previously submitted memorandums to draw the government's attention to these issues, but no concrete steps have been taken.

Demand for Action or Indefinite Strike

The association has issued a stern warning: if their memorandum submitted on September 28th is not addressed and their key demands are not met by October 1st, the entire state will face an indefinite strike.

All fair price shopkeepers and salesmen will suspend their services and cease operations. This potential strike could severely disrupt the state's Public Distribution System (PDS), impacting millions of consumers.
