Actress Rashmika Mandanna has dismissed persistent rumours claiming she has been banned from Kannada cinema, calling them “baseless” and urging fans to separate public perception from reality. The actor’s remarks come amid speculation that she had distanced herself from the Kannada film industry and director Rishab Shetty, who launched her career with Kirik Party (2016) and recently directed the blockbuster Kantara.
“So far, I have not been banned. So, yeah,” Rashmika said with a smile, emphasizing that artists cannot let public opinion dictate their choices. “The world doesn’t know what is happening on the inside… what people say about a person’s life doesn’t matter. As for our professional life, we consider it and work on it,” she added.
Responding to ‘Kantara’ Speculation
The actor also addressed resurfaced remarks from an old interview about Kantara, clarifying she had not watched the film immediately upon release but later viewed it and even reached out to the team, receiving a polite “thank you” in response. She stressed that personal communications and interactions often remain private, even if misinterpreted publicly.
“Inside, god knows we can’t always put a camera on our personal lives. We aren’t those people who share our messages online,” she said, highlighting the gap between perception and reality in the digital age.
Upcoming Projects
On the professional front, Rashmika is gearing up for ‘Thamma’, a romantic horror comedy co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film is the fifth installment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU). The ensemble cast also includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Sathyaraj, and Faisal Malik, with cameo appearances by Varun Dhawan, Nora Fatehi, and Malaika Arora.
