Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar to Screen with Minor Edits from January 1 Following Government Directives

Ranveer Singh-led blockbuster Dhurandhar, currently the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, will return to theatres with slight modifications starting January 1, 2026, after directives issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB).

The revised cut will replace the existing digital cinema package (DCP) across cinemas nationwide, even as the film continues its extraordinary box-office run. In just 27 days, Dhurandhar has amassed an estimated ₹1,128 crore worldwide, cementing its status as one of the biggest commercial successes in Indian cinema.

Changes Implemented After Official Review

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the film’s producers were instructed to mute specific words and alter a particular line of dialogue. One of the terms removed from the theatrical version is “Baloch,” though details about the other muted content or the revised dialogue have not been disclosed.

An exhibition-sector source told the publication that theatres received official communication late on December 31 regarding the update. The message informed exhibitors that a new DCP would be circulated and requested them to begin screening the modified version from the first day of the New Year.

“Theatres across the country were informed via email that the existing DCP would be replaced,” the source said, adding that the changes were made in compliance with instructions from the Ministry.

New Version to Roll Out Nationwide

Cinema owners have been asked to download the updated file and ensure that only the revised version of Dhurandhar is screened from January 1 onward. The transition is expected to be seamless, with no disruption to scheduled shows.

An industry insider also confirmed to Bollywood Hungama that the removal of the word “Baloch” was among the mandated changes, though further specifics were unavailable at the time of reporting.

Film Continues Strong Run into 2026

Despite the post-release edits, Dhurandhar remains firmly entrenched at the box office, drawing strong footfalls even weeks after release. With the updated cut now in circulation, audiences heading to theatres in 2026 will experience a slightly altered version of the film as it continues its dominant theatrical run.
