Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar Blocked in Gulf Countries Over Anti-Pakistan Content

Ranveer Singh’s latest spy thriller Dhurandhar is performing strongly in India but has hit a roadblock internationally, facing bans across six Gulf countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Authorities reportedly objected to the film’s perceived “anti-Pakistan” messaging, preventing a theatrical release in these key markets.

Despite this setback, Dhurandhar has crossed ₹200 crore net in India within a week, with an overseas collection of ₹44.5 crore excluding the Gulf. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar in his first project since Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), is inspired by real geopolitical events, including Operation Lyari in Pakistan and covert R&AW missions.

Featuring an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, the film has garnered strong word-of-mouth and is emerging as one of the year’s biggest hits. The Gulf ban continues a trend, as films like Fighter, Sky Force, Tiger 3, and The Kashmir Files have faced similar restrictions over sensitive cross-border themes.
