Ramleela Festival Unfolds in Guna
The Public Shri Ramleela and Dussehra Festival Committee's ongoing Ramleela festival in Guna's Old Grain Market captivated audiences on its second day. The event featured a vibrant reenactment of tales depicting Ravana's arrogance, his arduous penance, and the divine descent of Lord Rama.
During the performance, actors vividly brought mythological episodes to life, immersing the spectators in a devotional fervor. The narrative highlighted Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Vibhishana performing severe penance to appease Lord Brahma. According to belief, Goddess Saraswati corrupted Kumbhakarna's intellect, leading him to ask for a 'seat of sleep' instead of a 'seat of Indra'.
Distressed, Ravana sought a boon from the deity. Upon receiving the boon, Ravana seized control of the golden Lanka, and his son Meghnad captured the gods and Indra. Troubled by Ravana's escalating atrocities across the three realms, the Earth and the gods pleaded with Lord Vishnu for deliverance.
Lord Rama's Birth and Royal Blessings
Meanwhile, Lord Vishnu, pleased with the intense penance of King Manu and his wife Shatarupa, blessed them with an avatar in their home during the Treta Yuga. Fulfilling this tradition, Lord Rama, along with Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughna, were born to King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya in Ayodhya.
Lord Vishnu also clarified that the Adi Shakti would incarnate alongside him. The birth of the four princes brought immense joy to the residents of Ayodhya, and as they grew, their childhood pranks left the audience deeply moved. Attendees at the Ramleela, including committee officials, distinguished citizens, and a large number of local residents, were spellbound by the artists' performances.
The artists effectively presented the mythological narratives through their roles, filling the entire atmosphere with devotion to Rama. Committee members announced that upcoming phases of the Ramleela will feature significant episodes such as the breaking of Shiva's bow and the dialogue between Lakshman and Parashurama. A large crowd is gathering daily to witness this religious event at the Old Grain Market, signifying the success of the artists' dedication and the organizers' efforts.
