Rajnath Singh Warns Pakistan on Sir Creek Aggression: "Will Change History and Geography"

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday issued a stern warning to Pakistan against any aggression in the Sir Creek region, saying any misadventure would face a “resounding response” capable of changing “history and geography.”

Speaking at a military base near Bhuj, Gujarat, where he celebrated Dussehra with soldiers and performed shastra puja, Singh said India seeks peace but will not tolerate provocation.

“In the 1965 war, the Indian Army demonstrated the capability to reach Lahore. Today, in 2025, Pakistan should remember that one route to Karachi passes through the creek,” he said.

Sir Creek Dispute

• Sir Creek is a 96-km tidal estuary between Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch and Pakistan, long disputed due to differing interpretations of maritime boundaries.

• Singh accused Pakistan of expanding military infrastructure in the region, indicating hostile intent.

Operation Sindoor

Singh hailed the success of Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack.

• Indian forces targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territory.

• The four-day operation (May 7–10) exposed Pakistan’s air defence system.

• Singh said India’s actions were limited to fighting terrorism, not escalating into full-scale war.

“Indian forces proved that we can inflict heavy losses on Pakistan whenever and wherever we wish,” he said.

Joint Military Strength

Calling the Army, Air Force, and Navy the “three pillars of India’s strength,” Singh said the success of Operation Sindoor demonstrated the power of jointness among the services.
