Rajinikanth Addresses Political Speculation

Veteran actor Rajinikanth addressed the media at his Chennai residence, clarifying his political position amid swirling criticism. This comes after recent election results and heightened speculation about relationships between film personalities and politicians.

Rajinikanth stated he was “extremely shocked” to learn of Vijay becoming Chief Minister. He emphasized his detachment from politics for several years.

He also highlighted the 28-year age difference between himself and Vijay, noting Vijay's independent success against established parties.

Defending Friendship with MK Stalin

Rajinikanth explained that the press conference was necessary to address ongoing criticisms that, if unanswered, could be misconstrued as truth.

"I am holding this press meet because many criticisms are being made about me in connection with the election. If I do not respond to them, they will become accepted as the truth," he said.

He strongly defended his friendship with MK Stalin, asserting that it transcends political divides. Rajinikanth expressed sadness at Stalin's defeat in Kulathur.

"Our friendship is beyond politics. I felt saddened that MK Stalin was defeated in Kulathur. Rajini is not a cheap or low-standard person to speak unnecessarily about anything else," he remarked.

Clarifying Reaction to Vijay's Win

Rajinikanth addressed claims that he didn't congratulate Vijay promptly. He clarified that he posted congratulations on X (formerly Twitter) immediately after Vijay's victory.

He reiterated that he is no longer involved in politics and therefore has no reason to be jealous of Vijay's success.

"It was said that I did not congratulate Vijay at the airport. I posted my congratulations on X (formerly Twitter) as soon as he won. I am not in politics. I have already left politics. When I am not in politics, why should I be jealous of him? What is destined for someone will happen, and what is not won't," he said.
