Airport officials say improved flight availability, competitive ticket pricing and rising business and leisure travel helped consolidate Bhopal’s position as a key aviation hub in central India.

Strong start and festive finish drive annual growth

Passenger traffic remained robust through most of the year, with notable momentum in the opening and closing months.

• January 2025 recorded 1,49,801 passengers, up 27 percent from 1,17,778 a year earlier.

• February saw a sharper rise of 30 percent to 1,48,403 passengers.

• March peaked at 1,54,205, supported by holiday travel and corporate movement.

While volumes moderated during the summer, the airport still outperformed the previous year.

• April handled 1,34,377 passengers, an 8 percent increase year-on-year.

• May and June recorded 1,37,786 and 1,35,549 passengers respectively.

Monsoon slowdown, but year-on-year gains continue

The monsoon months saw a seasonal dip, yet traffic consistently stayed above 2024 levels.

• August saw 1,16,440 passengers

• September closed at 1,07,240 passengers

Airport authorities noted that operational stability and steady demand prevented sharper declines during this period.

Final quarter surge lifts annual totals

The last quarter delivered a strong rebound.

• October logged 1,34,325 passengers

• November jumped to 1,57,214, driven by festive travel

• December closed with 1,48,676 passengers

Three-year growth trend signals long-term shift

Passenger volumes at Raja Bhoj Airport have shown sustained growth over the past three years.

• 2022: 10,49,154 passengers

• 2023: 13,20,205 passengers

• 2025: 1.63 million passengers

This rise has been supported by runway upgrades, modernised lounges and digital check-in systems, improving overall passenger experience.
