Action Against Quacks Under Scrutiny in Sagar

Serious questions have been raised regarding the effectiveness of the action taken by the health department against alleged quack doctors in Gaurjhamar, Deori tehsil of Sagar district. Local residents have expressed dissatisfaction with the health department's working methods.

Despite inspections and notices issued, hospitals operating illegally continue their services. Doubts have been cast on the legality and academic qualifications of the hospitals run by Dr. Ashwani Majumdar and Dr. T.K. Biswas.

Following continuous complaints against these alleged practitioners, and under strict instructions from the district administration, the Block Medical Officer (BMO) of Deori, Dr. Pooja Parmar, inspected the concerned hospitals.

Hospitals Continue Operations Despite Inspection and Notice

During the inspection, it was found that the concerned doctors were absent. Subsequently, BMO Dr. Pooja Parmar issued a seven-day notice to both practitioners.

However, villagers allege that shortly after the health department's team inspected the facilities, the hospitals reopened, and patient treatment continued as before. This development has rendered the health department's action ineffective.

Contradictory Statements and Lack of Ground Action Complicate Matters

A surprising situation arose in this entire episode when the concerned doctors reportedly claimed that their hospitals were operating as per the BMO's orders. On the other hand, Block Medical Officer Dr. Pooja Parmar has completely denied any form of protection or irregularity.

The contradiction in the statements from both sides and the lack of tangible action on the ground have further complicated the matter. The accessibility and quality of health services in rural areas remain a critical issue.

The health of patients can be at serious risk due to quack doctors providing medical services without valid degrees and registrations. Strict legal action against such centers is being demanded to ensure the safety of the general public and to provide them with quality health services.

Senior officials are expected to conduct an impartial inquiry into this matter and take effective action if irregularities are found.
