Prioritizing Social Good in Autonomous Vehicle Development

Bhopal, October 9, 2026 – A special lecture held at the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) in Bhopal underscored the imperative to place social interest and public welfare at the forefront of autonomous vehicle development. Dr. Rajesh Tiwari, Principal Scientist from the University of Nottingham, UK, highlighted the future prospects and challenges of 'Next Generation Autonomous Vehicle' technology.

Dr. Tiwari asserted that science and technology derive their true meaning from their direct application for the broader benefit of society. He elaborated on the utility of advanced navigation techniques, multi-sensor-based positioning systems, and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication in autonomous vehicles. These modern technologies can significantly enhance road safety, streamline traffic management, and conserve fuel in the future.

Cybersecurity and Digital Privacy Concerns

Dr. Rajesh Tiwari also drew attention to significant challenges in the development of autonomous transportation systems, including cybersecurity, communication reliability, and environmental protection. He specifically voiced concerns regarding potential cyberattacks and risks to digital privacy during vehicle-to-vehicle communication.

According to Dr. Tiwari, it is crucial to assign the highest priority to security standards during the development of these systems to prevent any form of unauthorized interference or data breaches. Ensuring robust cybersecurity measures is paramount for public trust and the successful adoption of autonomous vehicles.

Inspiring Students Towards Research

In his address, Prof. Chandra Charu Tripathi, Director of NITTTR, stated that the true objective of science is to develop useful and practical solutions for society. He described autonomous vehicles as a critical technology for the future and noted that such expert lectures inspire students by fostering a scientific outlook and encouraging research and innovation.

Dr. P.K. Purohit, Dean of the Science Department at the institute, praised Dr. Rajesh Tiwari's international achievements, calling him a source of inspiration for young people. He emphasized that Dr. Tiwari's success demonstrates that global excellence can be achieved through continuous hard work and commitment to research.

The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Soumi Chatterjee, with the vote of thanks delivered by Major Nishant Ojha. This lecture provided NITTTR students with a new perspective on understanding future technological directions and global standards.
