Ongoing Protests in Balrampur

Protests by lawyers continued in Balrampur on Saturday, with advocates expressing strong displeasure over offensive remarks made against them on social media. The controversy erupted on October 23rd following a Facebook post from an ID named 'UP-47 Wale' allegedly using objectionable language towards lawyers, targeting an individual named Anurag Maurya.

Advocates stated that such disrespectful comments have tarnished the dignity of the entire legal fraternity. In pursuit of their demands, lawyers continued their demonstrations on Saturday and were preparing to hold discussions with the District Magistrate.

Demands and Legal Action

The protesting lawyers have lodged complaints with the police at Kotwali Dehat and Kotwali Utraula, demanding strict action in the matter. Screenshots of the alleged offensive post were submitted as evidence along with the complaints.

Considering the seriousness of the issue, the lawyers have urged the police to register an FIR and initiate immediate action. They emphasized that such acts should not be tolerated and that swift action against the responsible individual is necessary to prevent recurrence.

Anticipation for Dialogue with District Magistrate

Taking the entire episode seriously, District Magistrate Vipin Kumar Jain has invited all office bearers of the Bar Association for a meeting at the Collectorate Auditorium on Monday at 3 PM. The President of the District Youth Bar Association, Mrigendra Upadhyay, confirmed receipt of the meeting invitation.

He stated that a delegation comprising office bearers from all three bar associations will discuss their demands with the District Magistrate. The meeting aims to ensure that the concerns of the lawyers are heard and a suitable resolution is reached.

Focus on Social Media Conduct and Accountability

During the meeting, Bar Association officials plan to stress the need for effective measures to prevent defamatory comments against lawyers on social media. They will also demand that legal action be ensured against the accused individual.

Several lawyers, including Rajkumar Tripathi, Bhanu Pratap Shukla, Amar Kumar Tiwari, and Aakrosh Pandey, were present during the protest, demonstrating collective solidarity. The lawyers have made it clear that they are prepared to go to any extent to protect their honor.

Looking Ahead to the Meeting

All eyes are now on the crucial meeting scheduled for Monday, which is seen as a significant step towards resolving the impasse. This dialogue has instilled hope among the lawyers that their legitimate demands will be addressed and justice will be served.
