Citizens Demand CEC's Resignation in Guna Protest
Local citizens and youth gathered at Hanuman Chowk in Guna on October 11, 2026, to strongly protest and demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They condemned the alleged suppression of democratic protests in Delhi and the disenfranchisement of millions of citizens through the SIR (Voter List Update) process, deeming it undemocratic.
Protesters stated that a large number of people were removed from the voter list due to the SIR process, posing a threat to an independent and fair election process. They accused the Chief Election Commissioner of failing to control this process and demanded his immediate resignation.
Allegations of 'Undeclared Emergency' in Delhi
During the protest, speakers vehemently condemned the actions taken to prevent pre-planned peaceful demonstrations in Delhi. Manish Srivastava described Delhi as having been turned into a 'jail,' with border areas sealed, metro stations closed, and internet services shut down. He characterized this as a display of fear by the government and an 'undeclared emergency.'
Manohar Mirothe called upon all democratic forces in the country to take to the streets against this 'fascist attack.' He emphasized that the struggle would continue until their demands were met. Anand Saxena appealed for a continuous public movement against anti-people policies.
Concerns Over Arrests and False Cases
The program was also addressed by Pushparaj Sharma, Laxminarayan Namdev, and Javed Khan. The protest was compered by Manoj Rajak. Speakers highlighted the arrests, detentions, and registration of false cases by the Delhi Police as a grave threat to democracy.
The protesters strongly demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar from his post and his punishment. This protest became a major topic of discussion throughout the city.
