Principal Secretary Conducts Surprise Inspection of Ratlam Jail, Assesses Facilities

On Thursday, September 19, 2026, Shri Mukesh Chand Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh Government's Jail Department, conducted a surprise inspection of Ratlam Circle Jail. During his visit, he thoroughly reviewed the jail's security arrangements, the facilities provided to inmates, and various operational systems.

He instructed the jail administration to ensure the smooth functioning of all arrangements and to act with sensitivity towards the needs of the inmates. The inspection commenced with an assessment of the security at the jail's main entrance and a review of the CCTV control room's operations.

Review of Healthcare and Inmate Services

Subsequently, Shri Gupta visited the jail hospital and the de-addiction ward. He directly interacted with the sick inmates to inquire about their health. He obtained detailed information from the jail physician regarding the treatment and health services being provided to the inmates and also inspected the medicines available in the hospital.

Shri Gupta also assessed the arrangements for court appearances via video conferencing for inmates. He gathered information on the functioning of the incoming telephone booths and visitation facilities for prisoners, aiming to ensure effective communication links with their families and the courts.

Focus on Educational and Personal Facilities

Furthermore, the Principal Secretary inspected the jail school and library. He reviewed the educational materials and learning facilities available to the inmates. Observing the collection of religious books in the jail library, he expressed satisfaction with this arrangement.

Shri Gupta toured the male and female wards, engaging in direct dialogue with the inmates. He listened to their problems and needs, assuring them of prompt resolution. As a concluding part of the inspection, Principal Secretary Shri Mukesh Chand Gupta performed prayers before the idol of Lord Ganesha installed in Ratlam Circle Jail.

During the inspection, Shri Laxman Singh Bhadauria, Superintendent of Ratlam Circle Jail, along with other officials and staff of the Jail Department, were present.
