Pralhad Joshi Takes Oath as Union Minister

Pralhad Joshi, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and a five-time consecutive winner from the Dharwad Lok Sabha seat, assumed his duties as a Union Cabinet Minister in New Delhi on Tuesday. He has been entrusted with the significant responsibilities of the Ministries of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and New & Renewable Energy.

This marks his second term as a Cabinet-ranked minister. While taking charge in the new government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Joshi assumed office on Monday, June 11. Several senior officials, including former Union Minister Piyush Goyal, former Minister of State BL Verma, Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, and former Minister of New and Renewable Energy Shripad Naik, were present on this occasion.

Political Journey and Past Responsibilities

Pralhad Joshi, known for his extensive political experience and organizational skills, was also handed crucial ministerial portfolios during the previous Modi government's tenure. At that time, he successfully led the Ministries of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal, and Mines. Given his experience and efficient management capabilities, he has once again been given the opportunity to play a significant role in the Union Cabinet.

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Pralhad Joshi proved his strong political hold by registering his fifth consecutive victory from his home constituency, Dharwad. He defeated Congress candidate Vinod Asuti by a significant margin of 97,324 votes, demonstrating his popularity and the public's trust in the region.

Commitment to Public Welfare Schemes

After assuming charge, Pralhad Joshi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that he has been given the opportunity to serve in ministries that directly impact the lives of crores of citizens across the country. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, which is directly linked to the daily needs of the common public, will be one of his top priorities.

Joshi emphasized that the effective implementation of the government's public welfare schemes, particularly the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, will be his main priority. Under this scheme, free food grains are being provided to millions of people through the public distribution system.

He further informed that the ministry's upcoming agenda includes the rapid completion of significant tasks within the first 100 days and further strengthening the food security system. The ministry is committed to swiftly completing key tasks within the first 100 days and fortifying the food security apparatus.

Goal of Energy Self-Sufficiency

Upon receiving the responsibility of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi pledged to work rapidly towards fulfilling the ambitious goal of making India self-reliant in the energy sector by 2047. He placed special emphasis on the importance of promoting clean energy, solar energy, and other renewable energy sources.

Before taking charge of his ministries, Pralhad Joshi performed traditional prayers at the new ministry offices along with his wife, Jyoti Joshi, and family members. Following this, he held a high-level meeting with senior officials from both ministries. During this meeting, he obtained detailed information regarding departmental tasks, current schemes, and future priorities.

Directives to Officials for Effective Implementation

Ministry officials warmly welcomed Joshi and briefed him on the ongoing work and key initiatives of the ministries. Joshi issued clear directives to the officials, emphasizing the need to ensure that the benefits of the government's policies and schemes reach the last person in a timely and effective manner. He cautioned against any leniency in the implementation of the schemes.
