Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 continues its spectacular run, not just at the box office, but also in garnering praise from influential public figures. The latest to commend the film is Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai, who took to social media platform X to applaud the movie’s authentic depiction of cultural heritage and spiritual devotion.

The prequel, which opened to packed theaters on October 2, has been celebrated for its immersive deep dive into regional folklore. Annamalai’s review specifically highlighted the film’s powerful synthesis of Dharma and the unique culture of the Tulu Nadu region, emphasizing the authentic portrayal of Daiva worship, including the deities Panjurli Deva and Guliga.

Drawing a personal connection to the film, Annamalai shared that the narrative resonated deeply with his own time as a civil servant in the Tulu region. He described the viewing experience as "a spiritual homecoming and a walk down memory lane," underscoring the film’s remarkable authenticity in capturing the local spirit.

The political leader also made a notable comment on the broader cinematic landscape, offering "kudos to Hombale Films for once again bringing the soul of Bharat to light," in what he referred to as an era "dominated by woke culture." This political endorsement further elevates the film’s status beyond mere entertainment, framing it as a cultural statement.

Produced by Hombale Films, Kantara: Chapter 1 is a prequel to the highly successful 2022 film Kantara. The new installment transports audiences to the fourth-century Kadamba era to explore the origins of the Daiva worship tradition, which forms the spiritual bedrock of the Tulu tribal community.

Rishab Shetty, who also wrote and directed the saga, stars as Berme, a figure who emerges as the protector of the Kantara forest and its indigenous people. The ensemble cast, including Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram, is central to the drama, which pits the tribal community against the royal family of the time in a struggle for land and cultural preservation.
