Police Register Case After Nidhhi Agerwal Mobbed at Lulu Mall Event

Kukatpally police have registered a suo motu case against Lulu Mall’s management and the event organisers after videos showed actor Nidhhi Agerwal being overwhelmed by a large, unruly crowd during a promotional event for a song from the upcoming film The Raja Saab.

What happened

Footage circulating widely on social media shows Agerwal struggling to make her way through dense crowds of fans at the mall as people pressed in to take photographs and get close to the actor. At times she appeared surrounded on all sides and had difficulty reaching her vehicle, with several clips conveying a chaotic scene and repeated breaches of her personal space.

Police action and grounds for case

Kukatpally inspector S. Rajashekar Reddy said police opened the case because the organisers had not obtained prior permission for the event. “A case is being registered against the mall management and the event organisers for holding the programme without permission,” he said. Authorities have launched an inquiry to identify lapses in crowd control, security deployment and event planning.

The suo motu registration means police initiated the probe on their own after reviewing the viral videos and assessing the public-safety risk.

Police said their probe will examine whether standard permissions and safety protocols were sought and implemented, and will interview mall security, event staff, organisers and eyewitnesses. Officials indicated they will also review CCTV footage to establish the sequence of events and identify individuals whose behaviour escalated the situation.
