Police Vigilance at Panchal Ghat Rescues Seven in Two Days

In a remarkable display of alertness and rapid response, police at Farrukhabad's Panchal Ghat have saved the lives of seven people in the past two days. On the evening of August 14, 2026, a woman and her three children were rescued from drowning in the Ganga River. The following day, August 15, 2026, three Kanwariyas were saved from being swept away by strong currents. These incidents underscore the local police's dedication and compassionate spirit.

Woman and Children Rescued from Ganga

According to Kapil Chaudhary, Station House Officer of Kadri Gate police station, around 8:30 PM on August 14, a woman from Papia Pur arrived at Panchal Ghat with her three children. Sensing a potential tragedy due to the woman's distressed state, the police immediately intervened.

With the help of local residents and divers, the police prevented the woman and her children from jumping into the river and safely brought them ashore. Constable Shashikant Pandey played a crucial role in this rescue operation. Following their rescue, the woman was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for medical examination and subsequently handed over to her husband, Ranjit Kumar, and father-in-law, Roop Lal. The police's prompt action averted a potential major tragedy for the family.

Three Kanwariyas Rescued on Independence Day

On August 15, amidst the national celebrations of Independence Day, another perilous situation unfolded at Panchal Ghat. Pushpendra Bharti, an 18-year-old Kanwariya from Gangapur village in the Mailani police station area of Lakhimpur Kheri, ventured into deep water while bathing in the Ganga and began to drown.

His companions, Deepak and Jatin, immediately jumped in to save him but were themselves caught by the strong river current. Observing the dire situation, police personnel deployed at Panchal Ghat and local divers launched a coordinated rescue effort. Through their swift action, courage, and coordination, all three youths were safely pulled out of the turbulent waters of the Ganga.

The rescued youths were brought to the Panchal Ghat police outpost, where they received first aid and counseling. Police officers advised them on safety precautions while bathing in the river, emphasizing the importance of staying away from deep waters and adhering to local warnings. They were then safely sent back to their homes in the presence of their fellow Kanwariyas: Kishan Kumar, Ankit, and Vikas Kumar.

Police Maintain Vigilance and Appeal to Public

Kapil Chaudhary, SHO of Kadri Gate police station, emphasized the police's continuous high-level vigilance to ensure the safety of pilgrims and visitors at Ganga ghats. He highlighted the strong coordination established with local divers to facilitate swift and effective rescue operations during emergencies.

He appealed to the general public, especially those bathing in the Ganga, to exercise extreme caution. Citizens were urged to be mindful of water depths, keep a close watch on children, and bathe only in designated safe areas, avoiding deep and unknown waters that pose unpredictable risks.

The combined rescue of seven individuals over these two days is a testament to the excellent coordination, professional efficiency, and above all, the humanitarian compassion displayed by the personnel of the Kadri Gate police station, including Constable Shashikant Pandey, and the local divers.
