Community Policing Initiative in Bhopal

Under the umbrella of community policing, the Madhya Pradesh Police hosted a special session at Govt. Sandipani Higher Secondary School, Nishatpura, in Bhopal on August 18, 2026. The 'Public Safety Youth Creation Dialogue' program aims to educate youth about law, civic rights, duties, and safety. Students gained valuable insights into police operations, legal provisions, and their rights during the event.

Encouraging Police-Youth Dialogue

The chief guest, DIG (Community Policing) Dr. Vineet Kapoor, emphasized the importance of open and fearless communication between youth and the police. He stated that stronger trust and dialogue between police and society lead to more effective crime prevention and public safety mechanisms.

“The more robust the trust and dialogue between the police and society, the more effective the crime prevention and public safety mechanism will be.”

Dr. Kapoor further highlighted that legal awareness empowers youth not only about their rights but also plays a crucial role in shaping them into responsible citizens.

Understanding Rights and Laws

During an interactive session, Dr. Vineet Kapoor provided detailed information on various legal provisions, law and order, fundamental rights, and duties. He specifically explained in simple terms the provisions of laws related to domestic violence and the protection of girls and children, such as the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act). He clarified that actions like harassing, stalking, or looking at a girl with ill intent are serious offenses in the eyes of the law.

The program also included a quiz session, where students participated with great enthusiasm. Those who answered correctly were awarded prizes to encourage their knowledge and spirits. The initiative aimed to inspire active learning among students.

Strengthening Society Through Police-Youth Interaction

Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Shri Amritlal Meena spoke about the utility of programs like the 'Public Safety Youth Creation Dialogue.' He noted that continuous dialogue between the police and youth enhances legal awareness and builds mutual trust.

Shri Meena urged students to respect the law, understand their rights and duties, and to contact the police without hesitation in case of any problem or doubt. Several dignitaries were present, including AIG (Women Safety) Smt. Manju Lata Khatri, ACP Bhopal Smt. Renu Murar, District Education Officer, Bhopal Shri Abhinav Arya, the school's Principal Shri R.
