PM SVANidhi Scheme Empowers Urban Entrepreneurs in Narmadapuram
Narmadapuram, August 19, 2026 – A total of ₹2.5 lakh was distributed to five beneficiaries under the Prime Minister SVANidhi scheme in Narmadapuram. The distribution was facilitated by District Collector Somesh Mishra during an employment fair.
This financial assistance is being provided by the municipality as part of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM). According to Divya Mishra, City Manager for DAY-NULM, the scheme operates under the guidance of Municipal President Neetu Mahendra Yadav and Chief Municipal Officer Vaibhav Deshmukh.
The primary objective of this initiative is to promote self-employment within urban areas, offering support to various groups including self-help groups and street vendors. The government's efforts aim to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities and economic empowerment to urban poor families.
Beyond financial aid, the scheme also encompasses training programs designed to equip beneficiaries with skills for various businesses, enabling them to generate stable incomes. The Prime Minister Street Vendors' AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi), specifically launched for urban street vendors, aims to help them recover from economic setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under this scheme, street vendors are eligible for collateral-free working capital loans of up to ₹10,000 for a tenure of one year. Timely repayment can lead to eligibility for higher loan amounts. The recent distribution event in Narmadapuram highlights the effective reach of various government schemes to beneficiaries at the grassroots level.
