PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi Apologises to BCCI Over Asia Cup 2025 Trophy Row

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi has reportedly apologised to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the controversy surrounding the Asia Cup 2025 final trophy presentation in Dubai.

According to a report by India Today on Wednesday (October 1), Naqvi expressed regret for taking the winners’ trophy away from the Dubai International Stadium on September 28, when India defeated Pakistan in the final. However, despite the apology, Naqvi is said to be standing firm on his decision not to hand over the medals and trophy to the Indian players.

Trophy Drama in Dubai

The incident occurred moments after Suryakumar Yadav’s India beat Pakistan in the title clash. Following the win, the Indian team refused to receive the trophy and medals directly from Naqvi. In response, the ACC chief instructed officials to remove the mementos from the presentation area, denying India their ceremonial honours.

Reports further claim that Naqvi later insisted India captain Suryakumar Yadav should travel to Dubai to personally collect the trophy. The BCCI, however, dismissed the suggestion, with officials reportedly telling him:

“He didn’t collect the trophy when you were there in front of him, you think he will come now?”

The standoff has added another layer of tension to the already strained cricketing ties between India and Pakistan, overshadowing what was otherwise a high-profile Asia Cup final.
