The State Election Commission has released the comprehensive schedule for the 2026 by-elections to urban local bodies and the three-tier panchayat system. Polling for these elections is slated to take place on September 29, 2026, with results expected on October 3.

Nomination Process and Timeline

According to information from the District Election Office, the process for these by-elections will commence with the publication of the election notice and the filing of nomination papers on September 8, 2026. The deadline for submitting nomination papers is set for September 15, followed by scrutiny on September 16.

Candidates will have until September 18 to withdraw their nominations, and symbol allocation will also occur on the same day. The polling hours for the panchayat elections have been fixed from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Counting and Results Declaration

For the Panch (ward member) positions, counting will be conducted immediately after polling concludes at the respective polling stations. The counting of votes for the Sarpanch (village head), Janpad Panchayat member, and Zila Panchayat member positions will be carried out using EVMs at the development block headquarters, starting at 8:00 AM on October 3. The election results for Sarpanch and Janpad Panchayat members will be declared on the same day.

Vacancies in Aron Development Block

The by-elections are being held due to vacancies in one Sarpanch and seven Panch positions within the Aron Development Block. Specifically, a by-election will be held for the Sarpanch post in Gram Panchayat Kasmabadhi.

Additionally, seven vacant Panch positions will be filled across the following Gram Panchayats under Aron Development Block: Dagrai, Amoda, Paharuwa, Hinotiya, Rusalikala, Sirsi, and Shahawazpur.

Officials Appointed for By-Elections

Collector and District Election Officer Kishore Kumar Kanyal has made the necessary appointments for carrying out the by-election duties. Tehsildar Aron, Dhirendra Gupta, has been appointed as the Returning Officer, and Nayab Tehsildar Barkhedahat, Krishnakant Chaube, as the Assistant Returning Officer for receiving nomination papers and other election-related tasks in Aron Development Block.

Furthermore, nodal officers, assistant nodal officers, and master trainers have also been appointed to ensure the smooth management of EVMs and other election-related operations.
