Tourism Department Unveils Plans for Global Recognition of Panchal's Heritage

Farrukhabad | September 27, 2026 | On the occasion of World Tourism Day in Farrukhabad, an seminar highlighted the tourism department's ambitious plans to establish the rich cultural and religious heritage of the Panchal region on the global stage.

The event, organized by the Panchal Research and Development Committee at Sandhya Palace on Bewar Road, featured detailed discussions on the conservation and immense tourism development potential of the region's historical sites, along with the sharing of an action plan.

Surendra Singh Somvanshi, President of the committee and a senior advocate, emphasized the need to connect the glorious history of Panchal's sacred land with modern tourism infrastructure. He stated that the region holds significant mythological and historical importance, and its preservation to grant global recognition is a demand of the present time.

Revitalization of Key Tourist Destinations

During the seminar, speakers specifically highlighted the renovation and beautification efforts for prominent sites such as Baba Neem Karori Dham, the Buddhist site of Sankisa, the Mahabharata-era city of Kampil, and the hermitage of Maharishi Shringi Rishi, Shringirampur.

Bhupendra Pratap Singh noted that the expansion of civic amenities at these key centers is continuously increasing the number of visiting devotees. Speakers unanimously agreed that strengthening the infrastructure of these significant sites will not only boost religious tourism but also provide a new impetus to the local economy of the region.

Promoting Local Products and Agriculture

Suggestions were made to integrate local products with tourism, prominently featuring Farrukhabad's world-famous handicrafts like Zardozi and Block Printing within the tourism circuit under the 'One District, One Product' scheme.

Furthermore, integrating the 'One District, One Dish' scheme as an integral part of tourism activities was also deliberated upon. The committee also presented a significant proposal to connect the district's nurseries to the tourism circuit with the aim of promoting agri-tourism and environmental tourism.

This initiative will provide tourists with an opportunity to closely understand and experience the natural beauty, local handicrafts, and traditional cuisine. Several distinguished citizens were present on the occasion, including Bhanu Prakash Mishra, Anil Pratap Singh, M.R. Pal, Captain D.S. Rathore, Dr. Mukesh Singh Rathore, Sharad Chandel, Aaquib Khan, Rajiv Bajpai, Anil Dadua, Satyapal Singh, K.K. Verma, and Pradeep Kumar.

All speakers reiterated their resolve to develop the Panchal region as a major tourism hub through collective efforts. This dialogue clearly indicates that concrete and positive steps are being taken towards preserving the district's unique cultural heritage and integrating it with the stream of modern development.
