Palmolin Oil Cake Found in Bhind; 24 Food Samples Under Investigation

Food Safety Department Conducts Extensive Sample Checks

The Food Safety Department in Bhind district has conducted a large-scale inspection of food samples during a two-day special campaign. Under the guidance of Collector Kirodi Lal Meena and Designated Officer Food Safety Administration, various units producing mawa, paneer, ghee, and sweets in Gormi, Raun, Gohad, and Mau tehsils were inspected on August 25 and 26, 2026.

A total of 24 samples were collected and sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal, with some samples showing significant irregularities. On August 25, samples of cream and milk used for mawa were collected from Balaji Dairy and Ambika Dairy in Hasanpura village, Gormi tehsil. Samples of mawa and ghee were taken from Adarsh Dairy in Raun tehsil, while dry fruit laddus and mawa barfi from Agrawal Sweets, paneer from New Agrawal Sweets, and mawa and ghee from Yogendra Dairy in Gohad tehsil were also sent for testing. Samples of tur dal were collected from Anshul Kirana.

Suspicious Cake Seized, Contaminants Found

On August 26, a startling incident occurred at Adishakti Sweets located at the bus stand in Bhind city. Food Safety Officer Mrs. Kiran Senger seized a 9.5 kg mix cake made from palmolin oil and milk powder. The shop owner was reportedly repackaging and selling this mix cake as milk cake, which is a violation of food safety regulations.

Additionally, on the same day, samples of mawa were collected from Suraj Singh's Dairy in Manhad village, Gormi tehsil. Samples of ghee and mawa were taken from Ashok Dairy in Pratapur village, and mawa samples were collected from Ganga Singh's Dairy and Mahendra Singh's Dairy.

Further Samples Collected from City Shops

Samples were also collected from other shops in Bhind city, including barfi and ghee from Dwarika Peda House, mawa from Sagar Peda House, soybean oil and kaju katli from Dauji Sweets Gol Market, and sweet boondi from Shiv Mithan Bhandar Hanuman Bajaria, as well as barfi from Krishna Sweets. All seized samples have been dispatched to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal for examination.

According to the Food Safety Department, legal action will be taken against the culprits under the Food Safety and Human Act upon receipt of the report from the laboratory. This campaign was initiated with the objective of curbing food adulteration and ensuring the quality of food products in the city.
