Over Rs 1 Lakh Crore Investment Pledged in India’s Food Processing Sector at World Food India 2025

Global and domestic companies have pledged around Rs 1.02 lakh crore in India’s food processing sector during the four-day World Food India 2025 summit, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from September 25 to 28.

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) reported that 26 companies, including Reliance Consumer Products, Coca-Cola System in India, Amul, Nestle India, Tata Consumer Products, and Carlsberg India, signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering diverse segments such as dairy, meat and poultry, packaged foods, beverages, spices and condiments, confectionery, edible oils, fruits and vegetables, and ready-to-eat products.

The ministry highlighted that these investments are expected to generate direct employment for over 64,000 people and create indirect opportunities for more than 10 lakh individuals. Projects are planned across states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and the north-eastern region.

Notable commitments include Reliance Consumer Products Ltd, which signed a Rs 40,000-crore agreement to establish integrated food manufacturing facilities nationwide, and three Coca-Cola bottlers in India, pledging Rs 25,760 crore (USD 2.96 billion) for greenfield and brownfield projects aimed at expanding food processing infrastructure.

The ministry added that Invest India played a key role in facilitating the MoUs and emphasized that the summit reinforced India’s status as a global destination for food processing investments. “The event has laid a strong foundation for sustainable growth, innovation, and international collaboration, further consolidating India’s leadership in shaping the future of global food systems,” the statement read.

MoFPI concluded that it would continue close collaboration with industry stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of these investments, paving the way for growth in India’s food processing ecosystem.
