OnePlus 15 Launched with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 165Hz Display: Benchmark Review

OnePlus unveiled its latest flagship, the OnePlus 15, at the Snapdragon Summit. Even before the phone’s official launch in China and global markets, early performance insights have surfaced through a review by YouTuber Geekerwan, focusing on the device’s gaming and benchmark capabilities.

The OnePlus 15 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and features a 165Hz display along with a new camera design. In benchmark tests, the device scored 3,836 in single-core and 12,352 in multi-core tests. While the multi-core performance surpasses that of current Android flagships as well as Apple’s A19 and A19 Pro chips powering the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, the single-core performance is slightly lower than Apple’s A19 (3,849) and A19 Pro (4,019).

GPU performance was tested using 3D Mark’s Steel Nomad Light benchmark, where the OnePlus 15 scored 3,143, outperforming the A19 (2,598) and A19 Pro (3,004). However, it fell short of the GPU scores achieved by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, launched just a few days prior.

While the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has generated significant hype, real-world performance in Indian-market devices remains to be seen. Last year, some devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, such as the iQOO 13, experienced heating issues during benchmarks. Interestingly, similar issues did not appear in the OnePlus 13, likely due to software-based CPU throttling implemented by the brand.
