Police Crack Down on Cattle Smuggling in Mirzapur

In a significant success for the Ahraura Police Station in Mirzapur district, an ongoing special campaign to curb cattle smuggling has led to the apprehension of a notorious smuggler. The police recovered four cattle bound cruelly and being transported for slaughter in a magic vehicle.

This operation was conducted in strict compliance with the directives of the Superintendent of Police, Mirzapur, Aparna Rajat Kaushik. The SP had instructed all station in-charges to take effective action against individuals involved in cattle smuggling incidents across the district.

Cattle Rescued, Smuggler Apprehended

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by the क्षेत्राधिकारी ऑपरेशन (ASP Rank Officer) intercepted a magic vehicle near the Bhudkuda Pauni Barrier Canal Bridge. During the search, police discovered four cattle tied up and being transported for slaughter.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Parmeshwar (son of Shivnarayan, resident of Bhogaon, Chilha Police Station, Mirzapur district), approximately 23 years old, was arrested on the spot. The magic vehicle bears the registration number UP66AT6559.

However, two other individuals on a motorcycle managed to escape from the scene before the police cordon could be established. Police are conducting raids at suspected locations in search of the absconders.

Legal Action and Vehicle Seizure

A case has been registered at the Ahraura Police Station under FIR number 177/2026, invoking sections 3/5A/8 of the Cow Slaughter Prevention Act and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

The arrested accused, Parmeshwar, has been presented before the court and remanded to judicial custody after due legal proceedings. The magic vehicle, registration number UP66AT6559, used in the cattle smuggling, has been seized under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The police team responsible for this successful operation included Sub-Inspector Dhanushdhari Pandey and the Chowki Incharge of Emiliachatti, Ahraura, along with their team. This action is considered a significant step towards ensuring the safety of cattle and preventing illegal slaughter in the region.

The Superintendent of Police lauded the team for their efforts and has directed that such strict enforcement measures continue in the future.
