Soldier Injured in Father's Firing During Family Quarrel

A serious incident unfolded on Friday evening in Deendayal Mohalla, under the Kadirigate police station area of the city. An Indian Army soldier was injured when his father fired a gun during a family dispute. The accused, former Naib Subedar Narveer Singh Somvanshi, was swiftly apprehended by the police.

Attempt to Mediate Turns Violent

The incident occurred when Narveer Singh Somvanshi and his wife, Poonam, were engaged in an argument. As the situation escalated, Narveer Singh retrieved his licensed revolver. At this point, their son, Army Jawan Pushpendra Somvanshi, arrived to mediate and protect his mother, inadvertently becoming the victim of the gunshot. The bullet passed through Pushpendra's thigh.

Heroic Soldier Reaches Hospital Despite Injury

Injured Pushpendra Somvanshi is currently stationed as a soldier with the Indian Army in Agra and had returned home on leave just two days prior. According to family members, as the marital dispute intensified, Pushpendra intervened to shield his mother. In the ensuing chaos, the shot was fired, striking him in the thigh.

Despite his injury, Pushpendra Somvanshi displayed remarkable courage. He drove himself, in his injured state, to the Military Hospital in Fatehgarh, approximately 2.5 kilometers away. A team of doctors at the hospital immediately began his treatment. Doctors have stated that his condition is currently out of danger, and he is receiving ongoing medical care.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Upon receiving information about the incident, a police and forensic team, led by Kadirigate Station House Officer Kapil Kumar, arrived at the scene and collected necessary evidence. Following the filing of a complaint by the victim's side, the police registered an FIR under relevant sections. The accused father, Narveer Singh Somvanshi, has been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.
