NTA asks JEE Main 2026 candidates to re-verify identity documents by January 15

NTA has directed some JEE Main 2026 candidates to re-verify identity proofs submitted during registration.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a fresh directive asking certain JEE Main 2026 candidates to verify their identity documents after discrepancies were found during the registration process.

The verification must be completed on or before January 15, 2026, according to an official notification released in New Delhi.

Why NTA ordered re-verification

The NTA said some candidates registered using identity documents other than Aadhaar, while in other cases, the live photographs uploaded during registration did not match UIDAI records.

To address this, the agency has offered candidates a final opportunity to confirm their identity.

What documents candidates must upload

Affected candidates are required to upload:

• A signed and attested identity verification certificate

• A recent photograph

• Certification by a verifying authority

Initially, attestation was limited to school or college principals and headmasters. However, following complaints about limited access, NTA has now expanded the list.

Candidates may now obtain attestation from a Class-I Gazetted Officer, including:

• Tehsildar

• Revenue Officer

• Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)

• District Magistrate (DM)

• Class-I Gazetted Officer of the Indian Embassy for NRI candidates
