Nora Fatehi Addresses 'Sarke Chunar' Controversy

Actor-dancer Nora Fatehi has recently shed light on the significant controversy that engulfed her track ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’, a Hindi adaptation from the Sanjay Dutt-starrer ‘KD – The Devil’. The song faced considerable backlash for its lyrics and visuals, leading to Nora's appearance before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on May 7.

Speaking on the 'Dream with Dr Sheen' podcast, Fatehi stated that she was not taken aback by the negative reaction. She further alleged that the online outrage was intentionally escalated, claiming that certain influencers were financially compensated to amplify the controversy.

Allegations of Orchestrated Backlash

“I already know who hired you, when, and how much they paid you. That was an opportunity well squeezed by whoever was behind that,” Fatehi remarked, indicating a belief that the backlash was orchestrated for personal gain.

Crucially, Nora Fatehi emphasized her lack of involvement in the approval process for the Hindi adaptation. She explained that the original song was shot in Kannada approximately three years prior, a period during which she did not comprehend the language.

“Whatever they have done right now, dubbing it in Hindi and the lyrics, they did not take any permission or approval from me. I had no idea about it,” Nora explained.

Fatehi confirmed she raised her concerns with the director, expressing her inability to be associated with the Hindi version due to its content and its potential impact on her public image and reputation.

Dissociation and Song Removal

Following the controversy, Nora Fatehi made a conscious decision to distance herself from the project and refrained from promoting the song. The track was eventually removed from platforms after the backlash intensified.

Interestingly, the controversy unfolded while Fatehi was engaged in a three-day shoot, causing her to be initially unaware of the rapid escalation of the situation. She recalled being away from the developing drama and not immediately grasping the severity of the unfolding events.
