New Railway Station Set to Inaugurate in Bhopal

Bhopal city is set to receive a new railway station on July 28, 2026. Nishatpura Railway Station, located approximately 2.5 kilometers from Bhopal Junction, will finally begin train operations tomorrow after a long wait of three years.

Constructed at a cost of approximately ₹20 crore in June 2023, the station had been awaiting operational status due to a lack of necessary approvals. The inauguration of this new station will bring numerous facilities for passengers.

Key Train Services to Shift to Nishatpura

The Malwa Express (Indore - Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra) and the Somnath - Jabalpur Express will now have a halt at Nishatpura Station. This is a significant change, as the services of these two trains have been discontinued at the main Bhopal Junction.

Passengers whose tickets are for Bhopal Junction will now need to reach Nishatpura Station to commence their journey. This move aims to streamline passenger flow and provide better access to these services.

Operational Enhancements and Time Savings

A major technical benefit of Nishatpura Railway Station's commencement will be the elimination of engine reversal for trains traveling from Ujjain or Indore towards Bina or Guna. These trains will no longer need to stop at the main Bhopal Junction for this process.

This procedural change is expected to save 30 to 45 minutes in train operations directly. Additionally, it will reduce the traffic pressure of trains at the main Bhopal Junction, contributing to smoother overall rail operations.

Convenience for Local Residents

The new railway station will be particularly beneficial for the millions of residents living in areas such as Karond, Chola, Bhanpur, Nishatpura, and the Ayodhya Bypass. Residents of these areas will no longer need to travel to distant stations like Bhopal Junction or Rani Kamalapati (RKMP).

With the addition of Nishatpura, Bhopal city now boasts five active passenger railway stations: Bhopal Junction, Rani Kamalapati, Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Misrod, and the newly constructed Nishatpura Station. To enhance passenger convenience, the station has been equipped with modern facilities under the NSG-3 category, including an advanced announcement system, platform sheds, and improved seating arrangements.
